NFL Mexico Games
The NFL returned to Mexico after 11 years to host the Oakland Raiders and the Houston Texans at Azteca Stadium. Years of work were put into this event in order to make it a complete success. As a team we had to work with countless partners and clients to organize all the events inside and outside the stadium revolving around Game Day. Our responsibilities covered everything pertaining to operations; from the buses, hotels and player locker rooms to on-field management. The first game was such a huge success that the NFL is now returning to Mexico to host its third game, Rams vs Chiefs.
Super Bowl 50
Being part of this worldwide transmitted event implied months of preparation and hard work. The International Operations department was at the forefront of the world transmission. By working with over 25 international partners, fiber and satellite facilities, and providing troubleshooting and crisis support, we made sure the game transmission was impeccable. Apart from broadcasting the game, we also had to manage and help organize the international partners in their booths as well as on the field.
IAAF World Junior Championships 2014
By being part of this large-scale event, ambassadors had to go through specialized training preparing us for conflict resolution, problem-solving, cross-cultural hosting, and sports marketing. Ambassadors were the point of contact between the teams and administration as well as their 24/7 emergency contact. We had to make sure the teams had everything they needed (i.e., food and equipment), that they weren't distracted by fans and that they had a positive experience during their stay in Oregon.
International Week & Night
The International Student Association (ISA) at the University of Oregon launched International Week and International Night. International week consists of week-long events that were based on real festivals throughout the world. The Tulip Festival, La Tomatina and Oktoberfest are some examples of the celebrations used. The goal was to expose students to different cultures on campus and to promote International Night. Over 200 students attended each event and wanted to learn more about the celebrations and about ISA. International Night tickets were sold out and there was a waiting list for people that wanted to attend.
International Student Association (ISA)
International Student Association is a student-run group at the University of Oregon. ISA strives to bridge the gap between international and domestic students through events. ISA hosts Coffee Hour every week, which consists of providing free food and drinks to students as they mingle and meet new people. More than 300 students attend Coffee Hour each week. The organization also hosts a Halloween dance, Thanksgiving dinner, Winter formal, International week and night, and a social butterfly. Each of these events has over 300 attendees and has been sponsored by Chase Bank, University Housing and other student groups and university departments.
Student Health Advisory Committee
SHAC serves as a liaison between the university Health Center and the student body. By working alongside different university departments, SHAC hosts different events in order to promote health and awareness. The events include tabling, panels, guest speakers and conferences. SHAC will be organizing and hosting the 2015 Western Regional International Health Conference at the University of Oregon.
